Super Wings did not sell wings
15 of my closest family members packed up our cars and spent 5 days in the Outer Banks. "The Outer Banks are a 100-mile long chain of barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina known for its wide sandy beaches, lighthouses, and historical landmarks" - (Outer Banks Website). There are a number of small beach towns that stretch along the coastline. I've been to the Outer Banks only once before this trip, January of 2020, just before COVID-19 shutdown the world. I can say that it is just as much fun to stay here in the winter as in the summer.
Here are some of the fun things we did and I would recommend:
My family rented an 8 bedroom, 10 bathroom house that sat on the sound front side of the coast and had a nice view of the Roanoke Sound. This home features wrap around porches, golf course views, deck and patio furniture, pool and hot tub, game and movie rooms. The best part of this house, especially staying with 15 relatives, is that each bedroom had it's own ensuite. The house was fully stocked with beach equipment, bikes, and pool floaties. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Walk, bike, or drive to the Beach. It's literally crossing a highway. There are so many public parking areas, just make sure you read the signs. The Beaches aren't crowded and it's very clean.
Jockey Ridge Sand Dunes are mounds of sand. There are plenty of activities such as paragliding and flying kites. Across the street of the entrance to the Sand Dunes is a 2 level outlet where you can rent boats, paraglides, kites, surf boards, etc. As well as ice cream and fudge shops. I highly recommend Jockey's Ridge Creamery.
